After 3 years I finally embarked on this meaningful trek with SANL. Being tasked the event photographer along with another trek mate, it is really a good way to improve by keep shooting.
Indeed, in the age of Digital Photography, quantity triumph quality. The more you shooting the more likely you be able to get better photos. Even if the photos turn out mediocre. It is serve a good learning lesson for future shoot and able to keep them as memento. I was using my wide angle and telephoto lens mainly to shoot. Changing lens in the field is still something I don't quite like to do. That is why having two cropped camera bodies helps. But being trigger happy means lots of photos to be screen and edit.
We trekked through a mountain range to reach the village and had a small scale play session with the children. Singing some songs, playing simple memory card game. Initially, it was 25 cards and pick 2 similar ones. But I think it was too difficult for them to remember as they were queuing one by one to play. So I suggested to change to just 5 cards with 2 pairs inside. Actually is to give the children something but we didn't want to do it too easily.
We also gave the children chocolates and sweets. To be frank I still wonder whether it is an appropriate thing to do. Some children simply throw the wrappers on the ground after eating.
After the school visit and a night rest, we proceed to Lusod Village for another night before descend down where we will catch a ride on the Jeepney to Pulag start point. The first night at the Elementary school, I caught a minor headache and little feverish as I was running around without a windbreaker. Glad I recovered after a fever patch and sleep.
